Deck the Halls | Christmas Decor 2023

christmas decorating guide

I'm not sure about you, but I'm always curious about when people start decorating for Christmas. This year, we decided to put our decorations up a little earlier than usual since we're celebrating Christmas early. But to be honest, we probably would have decorated this early anyway.

As I get older, I realize how fast time flies. It's such a cliché, but it's truly amazing how quickly the years go by. So, when I take the time to decorate for Christmas, I want to make sure I actually have time to enjoy it. I don't want to put up all the decorations just to take them down a few weeks later.

New Additions for 2023

If you're like me and love to decorate for Christmas, I have a few new additions for you this year. One of the things we decided to do this year was incorporate one of my favorite things: Legos - because I am a child 😅. But I really love the cute Christmas Lego sets. I used them for our advent calendar this year, and I'm already thinking of how I can do it even better next year. If you're interested in a post about that, let me know in the comments!

I also accidentally forgot when I bought them early this year that my original intention was to only do one set per year. Oops... 😂 Oh well. Guess we'll just be overflowing with Christmas Legos by the time our kids are all gone.

The Lego brand of Christmas building bricks can get expensive, so when shopping for our own family I opted for some of these off-brand bricks and they are just as great, only just more affordable.

I just finished putting this one together and it is so cute and doesn't even look like building bricks in person when completed - I always say, Legos are just like 3D puzzles

Finding the Perfect Balance

Decorating for Christmas can be a lot of fun, but it can also be overwhelming. It's a fine balance between bringing the magic of Christmas into your home while trying to make it not feel too cluttered or disjointed. Every time we move into a new home, I feel like my "system" for decorating gets reset, as the space we have to work with is totally different. It's easy to want to buy all the Christmas things, believe me, I do. But balancing what you have with a couple of new items that will go with the style of what you already have is really all you need.
